Ten Wichita companies will vie for two top honors in the 2013 Small Business Awards, a contest organized and overseen by the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce.
Finalists for the awards were named Wednesday afternoon at the Chamber’s Metro Mingle at Newman University. The event also gave applicants for the award a chance to showcase their businesses, including the products and services they offer.
The businesses compete in two divisions for the annual Small Business Award. Tier One is for companies with one to 25 employees, and Tier Two is for companies with 26 to 100 employees.
The Tier One finalists are Group Benefit Specialists, Advocate Care Services, CIG Insurance, Next Element Consulting and Great Plains Communications.
In Tier Two, the finalists are Eric Fisher Academy, Cybertron, ARSI, Alltite and Mid-American Orthopedics.
According to Chamber officials, about 100 businesses were nominated for the honor, and 27 completed the application process.
The Small Business Awards primary sponsors are the Chamber, Hyspeco, Profit Builders and The Wichita Eagle.
The winners in each division will be announced at a May 1 luncheon and awards ceremony.
