Its for a good cause: The Loaf Off is a fundraiser for Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals thats now in its fifth year. Its from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Anchor, 1109 E. Douglas, and features restaurant chefs as well as amateurs competing with their best meatloaf recipes.

Youll eat a lot of loaf: Attendees sample each meatloaf, then vote on a favorite. A panel of judges chooses winners in categories including Best in Show and Top Loaf. The Anchor serves sides. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 10.

The King of Loaves is now a judge: Via Christi chef Don Lucero, whos won the competition the past two years, has graciously offered to step aside and serve this year as a judge. Hell be joined by local foodies Barbara Baan and Joe Stumpe, as well as Chef Chris Collier.
