Assists, points
: In the first half, K-State scored 17 field goals on 17 assists. That stat impressed Weber more than any other.
“I don’t know if that’s ever been done,” he said.
The Wildcats were unable to keep that pace going in the second half, but they came close by finishing with 27 assists and 31 field goals.
“We are at our best when we are passing the ball to each other,” Irving said.
Spradling sits
Junior guard Will Spradling, who started K-State’s first 29 games, watched Tuesday’s game from the bench in sweats. He sat out because of an injury he suffered at Texas two weeks ago, when he got hit in the chest. Spradling played 28 minutes the following game against Texas Tech, but only 5 minutes against Baylor. Weber said he asked Spradling to try and play against Baylor with the intent to sit him against TCU. He said Spradling will receive treatment this week and may return to the starting lineup on Saturday.
Worth noting
Tuesday was all about K-State’s senior class, but its younger players played major roles in the victory. Rodriguez led the team with 21 points and 10 assists, Shane Southwell hit his first six shots and scored 15 points and Thomas Gipson had 11 points.… Players stayed at Bramlage Coliseum late to sign autographs. Fans gave them a memorable send-off. One fan even made a sign asking McGruder to marry her.… Without Spradling in the lineup, four of K-State’s starters logged more than 33 minutes.
