Wichita police arrested a 34-year-old man after he allegedly beat his wife and their 13-year-old daughter, choking the girl and repeatedly throwing her down while her mother tried to help, a police official said Tuesday.

The girl and her mother weren’t seriously injured, police Lt. Doug Nolte said.

Police responded around 6 a.m. Monday to a report of child abuse at a home in the 3200 block of South Clifton. The father had come home intoxicated about 3:30 a.m., yelled at his wife and punched holes in a wall, Nolte said. After the man began to assault his daughter, the mother tried to get her husband off the girl and also was struck, Nolte said. The mother called 911, and officers arrested the father, who faces possible domestic violence and battery charges, Nolte said.
