The statewide tornado drill will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday throughout Kansas — but residents of western Sedgwick County won’t be done when the wail of sirens from that test fall silent.
A second drill to test a new siren system covering the western half of the county will be held at 1:35 p.m., National Weather Service warning coordination meteorologist Chance Hayes said.
Wichita and eastern Sedgwick County will not be included in the second tornado drill, Hayes said.
Students and faculty at Wichita State University will be asked to go to shelters today when campus sirens sound at 1:30 p.m..
Faculty and students and staff are asked to take part, WSU spokesman Joe Kleinsasser said. Classes will resume after the test is concluded.
