U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, is one of 38 members of the House to be given the “Defender of Liberty” award for 2012 from the American Conservative Union.

To get the award, congressional members’ voting record on key conservative issues must match up 100 percent of the time with the ACU’s preference. The ACU, a political organization, has been rating representatives and senators on their voting records since 1971.

Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Topeka, also received a 100 percent rating and the award. Reps. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler, had a 92 percent score and Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-Overland Park, a 96 percent.

Kansas’ GOP senators, Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, both scored under 80 percent. Roberts was at 72 percent and Moran at 64 percent.
