Isely Traditional Magnet Elementary School briefly went on lockdown following a reported crime at a nearby church Thursday morning, authorities said.

A man reportedly stole money from Resurrection Catholic Church in Bel Aire at about 9:30 a.m. and began walking toward the school at 5256 N. Woodlawn, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. When school officials learned of the theft and the suspect’s location, they requested that the school be placed on lockdown.

A description of the suspect was not yet available.

The lockdown was lifted not long after it was initially imposed, a dispatch supervisor said.
