Dave McCurdy
Parts manager, Kansas Truck Equipment
McCurdy brings 27 years’ experience in the motor vehicle business to his new job, although most of those were spent with a smaller variety – motorcycles, to be specific – than trucks.
“It was definitely a steep learning curve, but I have a lot of good people here to back me up,” he said.
McCurdy, 44, grew up in Goddard. He worked his way up to general manager at the Mid America Powersports motorcycle dealership.
“I just learned by the seat of my pants, I guess,” he said. “I was very diligent as far as inventory control.”
McCurdy still lives in Goddard with his wife, Mandi, and daughter, Lyla, who’s 3.
McCurdy said the motorcycle dealership is a more retail-oriented business than Kansas Truck, which sells mostly to larger entities, such as school districts, large companies and government agencies.
The change gives him a little more structured workday, which will allow him to pursue a hobby involving yet another kind of vehicle – classic muscle cars.
“I drag raced for years,” he said. “That’s something I’m looking forward to getting back into.”
