Playing through pain
Will Spradling has already played with a broken nose this season. Now he can say he has played with a bruised sternum. The junior guard injured his chest early against Texas on Saturday and was questionable to play against Texas Tech until he underwent a full examination in Manhattan. When it turned out he only bruised his chest, he decided to play through pain. He scored five points and had four assists. Wildcats coach Bruce Weber considers Spradling one of the toughest players on the roster, but he will try his best to give him time to rest this week before K-State’s next game at Baylor on Saturday
Henriquez gone
Senior forward Jordan Henriquez missed the game in order to attend his grandmother’s funeral on Tuesday in New York. His grandmother passed away last week, and he spent time at home leading up to the Texas game. He re-joined the team in time to play against the Longhorns, but was unable to do the same on Monday. He is expected to practice with the Wildcats this week and return to the starting lineup on Saturday at Baylor.
Worth nothing
With 23 wins, Bruce Weber has tied Bob Huggins for the most wins by a K-State coach in his first season… K-State scored a season-high 44 points in the paint.…Texas Tech spent a lot of time on the road leading up to Monday’s game. The Red Raiders headed straight to Manhattan after playing at Iowa State on Saturday to make sure they beat bad weather into town. “Playing two straight road games might have affected them,” Walker said. “I thought we ran out of gas.”
