The men’s and women’s homeless shelters operated by Inter-Faith Ministries in downtown Wichita will be kept open all day Tuesday because of the dangerous winter storm in the area.
Normally the Warming Souls Winter Shelter at Inter-Faith Inn, 320 E. Central, closes at 7 a.m. each day before reopening at 6 p.m.
But men and women who check into the shelters at 6 p.m. Monday will be able to remain there through 7 a.m. Wednesday, said Anne Corriston, Inter-Faith’s executive director.
The shelter was kept open all day last Thursday, when a snow storm dumped 14.2 inches on Wichita, for the same reasons, she said
“We are blessed in that we have several staff who live within walking distance of the shelters and can come to work regardless of conditions outside,” Corriston said.
