Rodney Worsham, a 41-year-old Medicine Lodge resident, won first place in The Eagle’s 2013 Oscar contest.

He was the only person out of the 426 people who entered to correctly predict winners of all of the contest categories. The Eagle challenged Kansas residents to guess winners in 10 categories, including Best Picture, actor and actress in leading and supporting roles and Animated Feature Film.

Only 13 percent of participants correctly predicted that Ang Lee, director of “Life of Pi,” would win in Directing.

And only 18 percent selected Christoph Waltz in the Supporting Actor category for his role in “Django Unchained.”

Worsham wins a $100 gift certificate, four movie tickets and a year’s subscription to Entertainment Weekly magazine.

Fifteen people guessed nine of out 10 answers correctly, so The Eagle conducted a random drawing to select second- and third-place winners.

Second place goes to Derby resident Carol Estes, who wins a $50 gift certificate and four movie tickets.

And Wichitan Lisa Lambdin won third place, a $25 gift certificate and four movie tickets.

Thanks to all of those who entered.
