Winfield police are searching for a middle-aged man sporting a Batman stocking cap who robbed a bank in the town Saturday morning.

Authorities say the man walked into CornerBank, 1905 E. Ninth Ave., around 11 a.m. and handed a note to a bank teller, Winfield police said in an e-mailed news release Saturday afternoon. The teller gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the man, who then fled.

The robber is described by police as a white man in his 40s or 50s, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, thin and weighs about 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray stocking hat with a Batman logo and tassels, dark sunglasses, a light gray jacket with yellow accents, blue jeans and black shoes.

He was last seen driving from the scene in an older-model gray or silver passenger car with a boxy body.

No one was hurt during the robbery, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the robber or has information on the crime is encouraged to call the Winfield Police Department at 620-221-5555. Tipsters also can call 911.
