Snow closes some Final Friday shows

This week’s snowstorm has everything in flux – including this weekend’s entertainment options.

At the moment, many Wichita art galleries are trying to decide whether to go ahead with their Final Friday plans, cancel them or reschedule them.

Following are updates on galleries we’ve heard from. If you know of a Final Friday change that should be added to the list, e-mail dneil@wichitaeagle.com.

Confirmed still on

Artworks Gallery, 7724 E. Central, Scenic Route by Rebecca Hoyer, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Fiber Studio, 418 S. Commerce, “Common Goal II by Wichita State University graduate students, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Wichita Art Museum, 1400 W. Museum Blvd., “Under Pressure” prints exhibit with live music and martinis, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Positive Directions/The Jones Gallery, 414 S. Commerce: “Drinks and Ink” mannequin art show, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Friends University’s Riney Fine Arts Center, 2100 W. University: “Progression, The Life & Works of Stacy Renee,” 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Rescheduled for March 1

Exploration Place, 300 N. McLean Blvd: The opening reception for “Persistence of Vision” by Richard Crowson and Skyler Lovelace will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 1.

Newman University’s Steckline Gallery: “From the Garden” by Charles Baughman and Dan Gegen will have its opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 1.

Vintera Gallery, 412 E. Douglas: The gallery’s Art for Arthritis auction and gala preview show will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 1.

Postponed

KMH Art Gallery at Kansas Masonic Home, 401 S. Seneca: The “Oh Snap!” show featuring art by the Wichita Area Camera Club will be rescheduled, either for March 1 or March 29.

Gallery XII, 412 E. Douglas: The gallery is still deciding whether to reschedule its show, “Up Close and Personal,” paintings by Shauna J. Shelton and pottery by Tricia Logan Gerard.

Wichita East High School, 2301 E. Douglas: Organizers are hoping to reschedule “Art, What? Why Not?!!” but haven’t settled on a date yet.
