A dual-state 5-kilometer race in memory of former Wichita and Phoenix police officer Briana Breedlove Cox will be held in each of those two cities Saturday.

Cox died of melanoma in February 2012, and her 21-month-old daughter, Addison, was born with stage IV melanoma after the mother’s cancer crossed the placenta.

The 5K will benefit a foundation created in memory of Cox — Addison’s Army Against Melanoma.

In Wichita, the race will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at West High School, 820 S. Osage — Cox’s alma mater.
