There were 497 homes sold in January in the Wichita area, up 23.6 percent from January of a year ago, but down 15.9 percent from December, according to the latest figures released by the South Central Kansas Multiple Listing Service.
New home sales were down in January, with 19 homes sold, compared to December, but were up compared to January 2012.
The median sales price of existing homes was $92,000, up 5.7 percent from a year ago, although down from a month ago.
The January median sale price of new homes was $225,000, down from $251,352 in December.
