Robert Knapp is the new president of Kapaun Mount Carmel Catholic High School.

Knapp replaces Mike Burrus, who announced in November that he would retire at the end of the current school year. Knapp, who is expected to assume his new duties in May, will be in charge of the overall leadership and strategic direction of the school. Kapaun is located at 8506 E. Central.

The announcement was made by this week by Bob Voboril, superintendent of schools for the Catholic Diocese of Wichita.

Knapp, a 1982 graduate of Kapaun, earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Kansas. He currently serves as chief counsel, intermediates, for Invista, a subsidiary of Koch Industries.

Knapp and his wife, Becky, also a graduate of Kapaun, have five children and are members of Church of the Magdalen parish in Wichita.
