WSU women top Drake on the road

Alex Harden matched her career high with 20 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists to lead hot-shooting Wichita State to a 74-65 victory over Drake on Thursday night in Des Moines.

WSU shot 54.2 percent from the field, and Harden hit 7 of 9.

Jessica Diamond added 14 points and Jazimen Gordon had 12 for WSU (17-7, 11-1).

The Shockers shot 54.2 perent from the field in both halves but could only manage a 33-33 tie at halftime. Diamond scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half to help the Shockers pull away.

Drake pulled within 52-50 with 5:28 left in the game, but WSU scored the next six points to maintain control.
