A Hutchinson woman is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital after being hurt in a two-car collision Wednesday afternoon in Hutchinson, authorities said.

A Nissan Maxima traveling west on Third Avenue ran a stop sign at Poplar and collided just before 3:45 p.m. with a Pontiac Sunfire coming south on Poplar, Hutchinson police Sgt. Brian Hirt said in a prepared statement.

The driver of the Sunfire, 68-year-old Claire Rhoades of Hutchinson, was taken to Hutchinson Hospital and later transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Hirt said. She was listed in critical condition early Thursday morning, a hospital operator said.

The driver of the Maxima, 19-year-old Michael Fleming of Haven, was not injured in the collision.
