Two people were hurt late Sunday night when the vehicles they were driving struck cows that had wandered onto K-254 near Benton in Butler County, authorities said.
A total of four vehicles hit cows shortly after 8 p.m. just east of Meadowlark Road east of Benton, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. A total of three cows were hit by vehicles.
Patricia Kiraly, 55, of Wichita, was injured and taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, where she was listed as being in fair condition Monday morning. Also injured was Michelle Beneke, 53, of Valley Center. She was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Beneke also was in fair condition early Monday morning, according to information released by the hospital.
