South Haven man found guilty of drug, gun charges

A Sumner County man was found guilty Friday of drug and gun charges.

John David McConnell, 51, of South Haven, was found guilty by a Sumner County jury of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of meth, possession of substances used to make drugs, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana without a drug tax stamp and criminal possession of a firearm, according to the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.

McConnell had a previous felony conviction of drug charges, according to the Kansas Department of Correction records. He was released from prison in 2004.

Judge R. Scott McQuinn set sentencing for 9 a.m., Feb. 28.
