TOPEKA — It would take a lot of candles to decorate these birthday cakes.
Gov. Sam Brownback plans to throw a party for Kansans who are 100 years old or older at the Johnson County Human Services Building in Olathe at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 20.
A similar reception drew 22 centenarians to Wichita in October, according to the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. The United States is home to roughly 70,000 people who are at least 100 years old, the highest amount in history, according to KDADS.
