Looking for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner in Wichita?

It’s never too soon to plan where you’re taking your sweetheart to eat for Valentine’s Day.

But if you wait much longer, it might be too late.

Several local restaurants are putting on special meals and events intended to lure lovebirds in for romantic meals. Some are on Feb. 14 only. Others stretch through the weekend.

Following is a list of some of them:

Abuelo’s, 1413 N. Waterfront Parkway, 316-634-2230: The Mexican restaurant is offering a dinner-for-two special good Thursday through Feb. 17 that includes fajitas plus a choice of dessert for $29.99.

AVI Seabar & Chophouse, inside the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview, 135 N. Waco, 316-262-3300: The restaurant is serving a $79-a-couple meal that includes choice of appetizer, salad, filet mignon with coconut shrimp or grilled or blackened salmon with coconut shrimp plus a dessert to share and one glass of champagne each. The special is available from 5 p.m. to close Thursday through Feb. 16, and the regular menu will be available as well. Call for reservations.

Bella Vita Bistro, 120 N. West St., 316-941-4500: The family-owned Italian restaurant will serve a special menu starting at 5 p.m. Thursday that’s $35 a person and includes a three-course meal. Diners can choose soup or salad, an entree and a dessert.

Bocconcini Italian Eatery, 4811 E. Central, 316-613-2523: The Italian restaurant is running a special four-course Valentine’s Day meal Friday through Feb. 16. It’s $35 a couple without alcohol or $55 with choice of a bottle of red wine, white wine or prosecco. The dinner includes choices for each course, and among the entree options are lemon chicken, pork saltimbocca and pancetta-wrapped salmon. Call for reservations.

Caffe Moderne, 300 N. Mead, 316-260-1199: The Old Town Square restaurant is serving a $30-a-person dinner on Thursday that includes a choice of soup or salad, a choice of entree and a dessert.

Cooking at Bonnie’s Place, 9747 E. 21st St., 316-425-5224: Local cooking-school owner Bonnie Aeschliman will be serving a four-course meal that includes two glasses of paired wine. It’s at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and is $140 a couple. Choices of entrees include herb-rubbed roasted beef tenderloin with blue cheese butter or roasted salmon roulade filled with wilted fresh spinach, feta and herbs. Reservations are required.

Hana Cafe, 325 N. Mead, 316-267-3766: The sushi and Korean restaurant is offering a $50 dinner for two on Thursday that includes one appetizer, two soups or salad, two special sushi rolls, a dessert and two alcoholic drinks. For reservations and information, call 316-250-0888.

Hereford House, 1400 Terradyne Drive, Andover, 316-733-7800: The restaurant has a standing offer of a four-course dinner for two for $65. Call for reservations.

Kanai, 12111 Maple, 316-719-2929: The sushi restaurant is offering a $50-a-person dinner that will include an appetizer, choice of sushi roll, choice of entree and dessert. It’s available on Valentine’s Day, the only day of the year Kanai accepts reservations.

Mediterranean Grill, 335 S. Towne East Mall Drive, 316-651-5599: The restaurant is offering a Valentine’s Day package for two that includes a bottle of wine, two side salads, an appetizer, two 10-ounce filet mignons with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables and choice of dessert for $64.95. Bottles of wine will be half price, and a red rose will be given to each table.

Newport Grill, 1900 N. Rock Road, 316-636-9555: Newport will offer a special Valentine’s Day dinner from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Feb. 16. It’s $50 a person and includes a steak and lobster dinner, a salad and a dessert of chocolate terrine with a raspberry coulis. The regular menu also is available, and those diners can add the dessert for $6. Reservations are recommended.

Oeno Wine Bar, 330 N. Mead, 316-440-5000: The Old Town wine bar is putting on a four-course dinner, each course paired with a different wine. It’s at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and is $55 a person. The event also will include live jazz. Among the items on the menu: a beef tenderloin with a garlic shrimp skewer paired with a shiraz. Call for reservations.

Public at the Brickyard, 129 N. Rock Island, 316-263-4044: The gastropub is offering a $45-a-person, three-course meal with wine pairings starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday. The main course features an espresso-crusted filet and a porcini-dusted scallop. Call for reservations.

Woodfire Grill, Kansas Star Casino, Mulvane, 316-719-5148: Reservations are required to partake of the casino’s fine-dining restaurant’s Valentine’s Day dinner, which is $120 a couple or $150 a couple with wine pairings. The package offers a four-course meal. Main course options include KC strip, shrimp scampi and cedar plank salmon. Thursday’s hours will be 4 to 10 p.m. Make reservations at 316-719-5148 or opentable.com.

YaYa’s Euro Bistro, 8115 E. 21st St., 316-634-1000: YaYa’s is offering is a $40-a-person dinner on Valentine’s Day that includes a shared starter, two salads, a shared entree of beef tenderloin or king salmon with diver scallops, and a shared dessert. They’ll also be serving the regular menu. Call for reservations.

Zaytun, 2020 N. Woodlawn, 316-613-2474: The Indian/Pakistani/Turkish restaurant will be serving a four-course meal for $25 a person from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Feb. 16. Among the several entree choices are tandoori chicken masala and Australian lamb shank. Call for reservations.

Cinema Alfredo: This event, put on by the Tallgrass Film Festival, starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at The Anchor, 1109 E. Douglas, and offers attendees an artisan cheese plate, a logo pint glass with a pull of Tallgrass Brewing Co.’s Cask Ale, and a screening of the 1992 Quentin Tarantino movie “Reservoir Dogs.” Tickets are $25.64 a person and are available by visiting www.eventbrite.com and searching for Cinema Alfredo.

Papa John’s: The pizza chain will once again offer its heart-shaped pizzas. They’re available on Thursday.

Krispy Kreme, 7777 E. Central, 316-618-3688: The doughnut shop is selling heart-shaped and Valentine-sprinkled doughnuts now through Thursday.
