Authorities continue to look for a person of interest sought in a rash of home burglaries last month, a Sedgwick County sheriff’s investigator said Tuesday.
The man was captured on a home security camera in 3800 block of 103rd Street South on Jan. 15. The video shows a black man in his mid-50s to early 60s with short hair and a goatee peering into a glass door of a house. He jiggled the handle and then walked away.
The home is one of three broken into between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day, Sgt. Wayne Ruffner said.
Damage and property loss is estimated at $7,000. Items stolen include guns, electronics, jewelry and cash.
The man remains a person of interest in the cases, Ruffner said Tuesday. Investigators have received several tips about the man after releasing the surveillance video last month, but most “ended up being a dead end,” he said.
“We’re still looking for him,” Ruffin said.
The man was wearing a leather jacket, black ball cap, blue jeans and a plaid shirt in the video. He had an earring in his left ear, wore glasses and is about 5-foot-9 with an average build.
