Fire heavily damaged a house in northeast Wichita early Monday morning.

The fire was reported shortly before 3 a.m. at 5306 E. Looman, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said. That is northeast of 21st and Oliver.

The man and woman who live at the house were able to escape unharmed, the dispatcher said.

Wichita Fire Lt. Joe Evans said the fire appears to be an accident.

"The occupant had been grilling earlier in the evening and awoke to the fire," Evans said in an e-mail response to questions.

Damage was set at $60,000. The fire damaged the first floor, attic and basement, Evans said.
