Police have released the name of the man shot to death Tuesday night in his house in north Wichita.

Jeremiah Doby, 26, was shot multiple times in the abdomen in the living room of his house in the 1700 block of East 23rd Street North shortly after 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. He was alone with two young children at the time, but family members returned a short time later and found him in a bedroom at the house, near I-135.

Doby was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment and died less than an hour after he was shot. Three 16-year-old boys were taken into custody just before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday from a house in the 1700 block of East Looman — one block from where the shooting occurred — and then arrested after questioning.

All three teens arrested in the case are documented gang members, said Lt. Scott Heimerman, head of the police gang unit.
