Leadership conference scheduled for American-American students

A leadership conference designed for African-American high school students in the Wichita Metro area is scheduled for this Saturday.

The free one-day conference, “Leadership U: Learning to Lead and Succeed,” will run from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Butler Student Union, Grizzly Den at 715 E. 13th Street in Andover.

The conference is designed to prepare high school students for two and four-year universities and offers tips on effective study and leadership skills as well as scholarship guidance. There will also be session for parents.

The conference is collaboration between Butler Community College and Links, an international nonprofit that represents one of the largest volunteer service organizations for women. Other organizations helping sponsor include the Alpha Nu Boule Chapter of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Wichita Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Wichita Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
