Melissa Leastman

Senior loan officer, Pulaski Bank Home Lending

Leastman thought about going to law school after majoring in political science in college. Instead, she got into the home mortgage business through her father’s company, and more than 15 years later, she has no regrets.

“I like helping people, especially first-time homebuyers, especially when it’s a challenging situation,” she said.

Leastman, who started at Pulaski Bank Jan. 1, acknowledges that there are more of those challenging situations in the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2007-08. As senior loan officer, she will develop new lending relationships and lead clients through the mortgage loan process. Her office is located in the Waterwalk building at 515 S. Main St., Suite 102.

Leastman, 42, grew up in the Wichita area and earned her degree from the University of Kansas. She started in her father’s secondary mortgage company, then worked for First Horizon, MetLife and Wells Fargo (twice). She’s active in the Wichita Area Association of Realtors and the Wichita Builders Association.

Leastman and her husband, Jon, live on the west side. She enjoys travel, reading and keeping up with her 9-year-old daughter, Maddie, who plays youth basketball, softball and soccer.

“She does everything,” Leastman said.
