— Kansas State president Kirk Schulz has been appointed to the NCAA Executive Committee, the highest governance body in the NCAA, and will begin serving immediately, NCAA president Mark Emmert announced Wednesday.

Schulz, who has served on the NCAA Board of Directors since July, will join a group of institutional administrators that oversee wide-ranging issues. The committee tries to ensure that each division of the NCAA abides to the association’s core values, policies and principles.

“President Schulz’s support and passion for intercollegiate athletics will be invaluable to the Executive Committee,” Emmert said in a statement. “He will bring the proud traditions of both the Big 12 Conference and Kansas State to the highest governing body in the NCAA.”
