Wichita State is No. 15 in the Associated Press top 25 men’s basketball poll, matching its highest ranking from last season.

The Shockers (19-2) moved up five spots after victories over Missouri State and Bradley last week. They play Indiana State (13-7) on Tuesday at Koch Arena.

“They’re as talented and athletic as any Valley team I’ve seen in, I don’t know how long — maybe ever,” Indiana State coach Greg Lansing said. “They’re one of the the top teams in the country.”

Kansas is second and Kansas State is 18th in the AP poll, Creighton is No. 21.

Kansas took the top spot in Monday’s USA Today coaches poll, three points ahead of Michigan. Michigan got the top spot in the AP poll with 51 of 65 first-place votes.

Wichita State is 14th in the coaches poll, while Kansas State dropped to 21st after an 0-2 week. KU (18-1) got 16 first-place votes to Michigan’s 14.

WSU jumped seven spots in the poll after a 2-0 week and losses by many teams ranked 10th to 20th last week. K-State was 13th last week.
