At Souper Bowl Friday, eating soup can help feed others

  • Published Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at 9:16 p.m.

For the past 13 years, Souper Bowl Friday has been an annual tradition in Wichita.

That’s when area restaurants donate bread and gallons of soup for Souper Bowl Friday, a fundraiser to help feed people who are hungry, impoverished and homeless.

The event is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 525 N. Broadway. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased in advance for $13.50 or $12 per person for groups of 10 and more.

To get a ticket, call Inter-Faith Ministries at 316-264-9303 or go to www.InterFaithWichita.org and click on the tab for special events.

The bottomless bowls of soup are made by some of Wichita’s top chefs and, for the first 200 guests, there are souvenir bowls made by Wichita elementary students.

If people can’t attend the event but would like to donate to the cause, they can do so by making donations to InterFaith Ministries, 829 N. Market, Wichita, KS 67214.
