The 28-year-old man was attacked at 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the Food Mart at 7101 E. Lincoln by a man wielding a hand axe, Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte said. He was struck four times in the head before the suspect left.

He suffered multiple cuts on his head, Nolte said. A police report on the incident stated one of the cuts was severe. The victim was taken by private vehicle to Via Christi Hospital on East Harry for treatment, Nolte said.

The victim later told police he didn’t remember the incident and doesn’t want to prosecute if the suspect is found, the police report states.
