A 36-year-old man was arrested after a hit-and-run collision in west Wichita early Thursday morning, police said.

The man, driving a Chevy TrailBlazer, ran a red light at Maple and Ridge Road just after midnight Thursday and struck another vehicle, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The driver of the TrailBlazer did not stop, Nolte said.

A police officer at the intersection tried to pull over the TrailBlazer, but the driver refused to stop, Nolte said. He drove to his house in the 600 block of North Caddy, near Central about midway between Tyler and Maize Road.

The man parked in his driveway but refused several orders by police to get out of the TrailBlazer, Nolte said. He was ultimately subdued with a Taser and arrested.

The 58-year-old driver of the car hit by the TrailBlazer at Maple and Ridge was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis with injuries that are serious but not life-threatening, Nolte said.

Alcohol may be a contributing factor in the case, Nolte said.
