Infinity Wind Power of Santa Barbara, Calif., said Wednesday that it had recently completed the purchase of the Pioneer Wind Project in Ford County, near Dodge City, from Clipper Windpower Development.

In June, Infinity bought two wind farms under development in Ford, Gray, and Finney counties from Zephyr Wind Power of Cimarron.

The acquisitions have a capacity to produce more than 1,500 megawatts of power.

The company is also developing wind farms with about 1,000 megawatts of capacity in Ford County.

“We are making these investments in western Kansas in anticipation of future transmission line infrastructure reaching the region. Kansas has been a strong leader nationally for the wind industry and we hope that continues through the rest of the decade,” Infinity Wind Power CEO Matt Riley, said in a statement.
