Square-dancing lessons for half price on Tuesdays, Thursdays

You can take square-dance classes for half price Tuesday and Thursday nights starting this Thursday through March 14, sponsored by the West Side Steppers.

Square dancers do the equivalent of walking three to five miles during an average evening of dance, the club says. “Square dance exercises both the mind and body,” the steppers said in a news release. “It offers an avenue to meet people while having fun.”

The 15 classes are being offered for $15 and will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in Clare Hall, 861 N. Socora, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, one block east and north of Central and Tyler.

Class registration will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday during a meet-and-greet social with snacks. There is no need to preregister. The first class will follow from 7 to 9 p.m.

Couples, singles and families with children ages 10 and up are welcome, and attire is casual.

No prior dance experience is required. Sheldon Lawrence will be the instructor. For more information, call Chuck at 316-670-0098 or e-mail westsidesteppers@juno.com.
