A Heights High School student has been arrested for bringing a gun to school, according to Wichita school district spokeswoman Susan Arensman.

In an e-mailed response to questions, Arensman said Heights administrators found the student – a male – with the gun while investigating a separate incident at the school, 5301 N. Hillside.

She said the student was taken into police custody and “will face disciplinary action per BOE (board of education) policy.” She did not have his age.

“This was an isolated incident,” Arensman said in the e-mail, “and there were no threats to students or staff.”

Wichita police spokesman Lt. Doug Nolte said more details should be released Saturday during the media’s weekend news briefing with police.

Heights High School is near Hillside and 53rd Street North.
