A 24-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning after a police officer found him with a knife next to a vehicle with freshly slashed tires in the Old Town area, authorities said.

The man was spotted hovering suspiciously near vehicles in the 200 block of North Washington at about 1 a.m. Friday, Lt. Doug Nolte said. Four other vehicles had slashed tires in the same parking lot.

Police want to hear from anyone else who may have had their tires slashed in Old Town late Thursday night or early Friday morning, Nolte said. They may call the case desk at 316-268-4646.
