Hawker Beechcraft executive Sean McGeough is the new president of Cleveland-based Nextant Aerospace.

The company announced his appointment Tuesday.

McGeough previously led Hawker Beechcraft’s international operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Nextant makes the Nextant 400XT, a remanufactured Hawker 400XP light business jet.

In his role, McGeough will focus on developing strategies for greater global market penetration and sustained growth, the company said in a press release.

“During the past year, Nextant successfully transitioned from developing a concept aircraft to becoming a world-class maker of business jets, and we enter 2013 with industry-leading momentum in sales,” Kenneth Ricci, Nextant Aerospace’s founder and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

McGeough has a proven track record of growing sales domestically and around the world, Ricci said.

Since late 2011, Nextant has recorded $100 million in sales and delivered 25 Nextant 400XTs. It has a sales backlog of more than $175 million.

In the remanufacturing process, the Nextant 400XT is fundamentally a new plane at a cost closer to a used aircraft, the company said.

McGeough said in a statement that he’s looking forward to contributing to the company’s growth in the coming years.

“The Nextant 400XT is one of the world’s most innovative and cost-effective business jets and incorporates a complete new aircraft purchase experience that is changing how buyers all over the globe think of aviation purchases,” McGeough said in the statement.

McGeough joined Hawker Beechcraft in 1999. He most recently served as Hawker Beechcraft’s president of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific and oversaw the company’s sales in the region. He previously held senior sales positions with Diamond Aircraft Industries. He has a master’s degree in business administration from the Florida Institute of Technology. He is a licensed air transport pilot.
