Police are still trying to find two men who ran from a car that was hit by gunfire Wednesday night – as well as who fired the shots.

A woman who lives in the 7000 block of East Castle – just south of Lincoln, about midway between Woodlawn and Rock Road – reported seeing a car pull up and park in the parking lot for her building and two men take off running from it at about 9:15 p.m., Lt. Doug Nolte said. Officers ran the tag and contacted the woman who owned the car, who came to the location and said her boyfriend had permission to use the car.

The car had been hit with several bullets, and officers found 14 shell casings in the street on the same block, Nolte said. But no one called 911 to report shots being fired in the area, and police haven’t found the two men who ran from the car.

“Fourteen shots fired from a large-caliber handgun is a concern,” Nolte said.
