  • Published Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at 6:38 p.m.

An 85-year-old Wichita man who had been missing from his home in west Wichita since 2 p.m. Sunday has been found safe in Lawrence.

Police had been searching Willis O. Bergman and had issued a plea for the public to be on the lookout for him. Caregivers told police Bergman left his home at 10000 W. Briarwood and were concerned he had both mental and physical ailments.

Without telling caregivers, Bergman left and took his 1980s-era Cadillac for a drive. He ended up in Lawrence.
