April 14, 2012: Wichita tornado

On April 14, 2012 a large system of storms raked Kansas and the Great Plains, spawning more than 100 confirmed tornadoes. Shortly after 10 p.m. that night an EF-3 tornado hit Sedgwick County, directly hitting the south side of Wichita and the Oaklawn area. The tornado demolished homes at the Pinaire Mobile Home Park and greatly damaged production facilities at Spirit AeroSystems, one of the city's largest employers. While no lives were lost, the damage ranged into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
