The Wichita school district is accepting nominations for its 2012-13 Distinguished Classroom Teacher Awards.
The awards recognize outstanding teachers in seven categories: new elementary, new secondary, primary (pre-K through second grade), intermediate (grades 3-5), middle school, high school and support teacher.
Mailed nominations must be postmarked no later than Jan. 3 or hand-delivered by 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 4 to: Lori Doyle or Tiffinie Irving, Alvin E. Morris Administrative Center, 9th Floor, 201 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202.

Award recipients are selected by a committee that includes teachers, school and district-level administrators, assistant superintendents and a member of the United Teachers of Wichita. They usually are announced and recognized at a Wichita Board of Education meeting in March.
