A new Sedgwick County website will go live Jan. 1 that is designed from the viewer’s standpoint.

The website, which will continue to be at www.sedgwickcounty.org, is designed through a “How do I” lens, a news release from the county said.

The county launched its website in 1997 and has upgraded it several times since then.

The site, the news release said, will feature a new look and present content with the end-user in mind.

“We are excited to offer a more functional, user-friendly and efficient website to the residents of Sedgwick County. We sought to create a site that is practical, compliant and navigable. We hope that is the experience our customers have," Kristi Zukovich, director of Sedgwick County Communications and Community Initiatives, said in the release.

The current website will be functional until the changeover at the beginning of the year.

The county also plans to use Facebook and Twitter to reach residents.

Social media users who “like” the county on Facebook and “follow” the county on Twitter will receive:

• Local emergency updates

• Health alerts

• Invitations to events

• Tax deadline reminders

• Information about changes taking place at the county.
