Gov. Sam Brownback, at the request of Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy, is requesting a statewide moment of silence in remembrance of those killed in the recent shooting in Newtown, Conn.
The moment of silence will take place Friday at 9:30 a.m. Twenty children and six adults were killed at an elementary school last Friday morning in Connecticut.
“On behalf of Lt. Governor Jeff Colyer, and the people of the state of Kansas, I would like to send my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the victims of this senseless crime,” Brownback said Wednesday in a news release.
“I would also like to thank the first responders for their dedication to protecting those in need. Our hearts and prayers are with everyone in Newtown.”
