The woman who called her guardian Wednesday night to report that she had shot her husband and planned to kill herself is now expected to survive her self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, Wichita police said Friday.

Hoang Tuan, 38, was found dead in the living room of his home in the 2200 block of East 53rd Street South at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, police have said. He had been shot several times.

The woman’s guardian called 911 right after talking with her, and officers were sent to the house south of I-135 and east of Hydraulic in south Wichita. Officers heard a gunshot as they were about to enter the house, and found Tuan in the living room and the woman in a back bedroom.

She was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.
