Someone fired a shot at a house in west Wichita early Thursday morning, police said, but the five people inside escaped injury.

A loud pop awoke a 47-year-old woman shortly after 3 a.m. in the 500 block of West 18th Street, Wichita police Lt. Todd Ojile said. That’s just west of Waco.

A search of the house revealed a single bullet had come through a front window, gone through two walls and struck a power outlet, Ojile said.

A 23-year-old man was sleeping on the living room couch but wasn’t injured, police records show. A 19-year-old woman, a 12-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy sleeping elsewhere in the house were not hurt.

No suspect was seen, Ojile said. No one called 911 about the shots, police records show. Officers interviewed neighbors but were unable to find a shell casing.
