The couple was on the way to the hospital so she could give birth, but the baby decided not to wait.
The child was born at about 1:30 a.m. in a car on Kellogg near the Kansas Turnpike exit, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. Paramedics arrived to assist, and then the new family continued to Wesley Medical Center.
Mother and newborn son are doing well, a Wesley spokeswoman said.
