A Haysville baby’s death last week remains under investigation, a Haysville police official said Monday.
Officers responded to a 911 call at about 5 a.m. on Dec. 4 at a mobile home park in the 6800 block of South Broadway, said Haysville police Lt. Kevin Sexton. The call came into the 911 system as a report of a baby not breathing, according to emergency dispatchers.
The girl, who was about a month and a half old, was pronounced dead a short time later in the hospital emergency room, Sexton said.
Although authorities are not treating the death as suspicious, because of the ongoing investigation, it was standard procedure to take the child’s 2-year-old sibling into police protective custody, Sexton said.
It could be weeks before investigators get an autopsy report on the possible cause or manner of the baby’s death, he said.
