Wichita police are investigating two separate homicides that took the lives of men in their 20s overnight Saturday, less than four hours apart.
A shooting at 9 p.m. near Murdock and Mosley was followed by a fatal stabbing around 1 a.m. Sunday near Pawnee and Rock Road.
The stabbing victim had been attending a party in the 2000 block of White Oak Drive when he was attacked. He was taken by friends to Via Christi Hospital on East Harry. He died shortly after being transferred to Via Christi on St. Francis, according to KFDI, The Eagle’s news partner.
Wichita police said Sunday they were interviewing people who attended the party but had not taken anyone into custody. Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said no more information on the homicides would be released until Monday.
On Saturday, police who were called to a home in the 800 block of North Wabash, north of Murdock, found a man in his 20s who had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The gun had not been recovered late Saturday.
“The initial call indicated that this was a shooting – that one person had shot another – so we are investigating a possible murder,” Capt. Rusty Leeds said late Saturday.
