Melissa Grelinger has been named the interim executive director of Catholic Charities for the Wichita Diocese.

She began Wednesday filling the position vacated in October after executive director Cynthia Colbert left to become the director of Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

Grelinger, a native Wichitan, attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Bishop Carroll High School and received her bachelor’s in management science from Newman University.

She has spent the past four years in Denver managing an accounting office for a property management company.

Since moving back to Wichita, she has been active serving as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Medical Alliance of Sedgwick County, the Kansas Medical Alliance and projects with Newman University.

She and her husband, Bart, have been married 27 years and have two children.

The application deadline for the executive director’s position is Dec. 15. Catholic Charities is conducting a national search to fill the position.
