Share the Season: Working wife struggling to keep household going

Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

Her husband suffered a stroke nearly three years ago.

Since then, the wife has struggled to pay bills and simply keep the household going.

But in July, the husband’s disability benefits ran out.

“Since that loss of income, I have just been keeping ourselves floating from paycheck to paycheck,” she said.

She works a full-time job. But whenever he needs to go to the doctor, she must take time off to take him.

The couple fell behind in utilities. Share the Season is helping them get their bills paid.

“It is going to get us through the holidays and get back on our feet, she said. “I’m hoping with tax returns we’ll be able to pay off more.”

In her application to Share the Season, the woman wrote:

“I have cut out everything I possibly can but the necessities. I have even cashed out what little bit I have left in my 401K and I am still having a hard time.”

So far, Share the Season has raised $82,222.
